The last time the Briar Cliff University women's basketball team got off to a 5-0 start, it reeled off 32 more wins in a row before losing in the quarterfinals of the NAIA Division II national tournament. Mike Power was in his first stint as head coach back in that glorious campaign of 1996-97, when the Chargers were 37-0 before falling to Doane at Angola, Ind., the last season since then that the national tournament hasn't been held in Sioux City. From 1992-98, Power compiled a 127-73 record and took te

Crawley Town co-owner Bruce Winfield says his aim is for the club to be debt-free by the end of this season. Loss of television revenue, reduced commercial income and gate receipts have seen a shortfall of around £250,000 in this season's budget. As a result manager Steve Evans has been forced to sell players and prevented from buying new ones.

At present we do not have the finances to deliver the team on the pitch we all want but by making the tough decisions lately we can keep players of real quality   -Bruce Winfield

Hayes & Yeading welcome back striker Scott Fitzgerald from a one-match ban for the visit of Crawley. Defender Matt Ruby is expected to be fit despite limping off against Wrexham last weekend. Crawley will give a late fitness test to keeper Simon Rayner after he was forced off at half-time against Mansfield following a heavy fall.

It's going to be a tough fixture. We've not got the best record away from home.   -Steve Evans

Crawley have been foiled in their attempt to sign Salisbury striker Matt Tubbs. Manager Steve Evans was keen to strengthen his forward line by bringing in Tubbs from the cash-strapped Whites. Tubbs, 25, has been a prolific scorer for Salisbury since joining them in 2003 and was a key player in their rise to the top-flight of non-league football.

TNS boosted their Welsh Premier title credentials by humbling Llanelli at Stebonheath Park on Sunday. The border side dominated proceedings from the first whistle and earned the praise of assistant manager Mike Davies, who oversaw arguably the best Saints display so far this season. "I am thoroughly delighted with the three points, the performance was great, I'm made up for the lads, I think we deserved it," said Davies.

The Reynoldsburg High School football team finished with the same record it did last year, but that does not mean it wasn't a better Raiders team. Reynoldsburg took on a brutal non-league schedule that included perennial state power Cleveland Glenville and the top team in Division I, Region 3 in Dublin Coffman. Reynoldsburg lost both of those games, falling to Glenville 35-14 on Sept. 5 and to Dublin Coffman 37-0 on Sept. 18.

FURIOUS Paul Raynor branded Crawley Town's supporters "spoilt" and "silly" after they booed their side off following Saturday's home defeat to Mansfield. The Reds assistant manager was angry at the fans who turned on their team, chanting "what a load of rubbish" during the second-half and hurling abuse at boss Steve Evans. Town were outclassed for much of the game and Mansfield thoroughly deserved their 2-0 victory, despite going down to 10 men with little over 20 minutes remaining.
